Central African Republic
The Central African Republic is rich in natural resources, which help to drive its severely underdeveloped economy. Subsistence agriculture and forestry in the Central African Republic form the basis of the country’s economy and include mainly the production of food crops such as cassava, peanuts, maize, sorghum, millet, sesame, and plantain. Diamond, gold, and timber exports are also economic drivers, and the country’s service industry is expanding.
Bangui, the capital, is the cultural and economic centre of the country and a former French colony.
Those who live and work in the Central African Republic, particularly if they are African Diaspora or other expatriates, will find it a challenging lifestyle in some respects. Due to the ongoing civil war and poverty, healthcare and education systems are underdeveloped, safety is low, and social activities are few as a result. However, the people are friendly and warm, and the country has an abundance of natural beauty. Dzanga-Sangha National Park is a popular place to visit. It lies in the safer corner of the country, and animals like gorillas and elephants can be seen there.
